Prisma Ukraïna is a Research Network that links scholars from universities and research institutions in Berlin, Brandenburg and beyond who focus in their work on Ukraine and Eastern Europe. We provide spaces for interdisciplinary and comparative research and seek to contribute to a language that does justice to the complexity of the region as a whole and opens up transregional perspectives. Prisma Ukraïna is a program at the Forum Transregionale Studien and is directed by Dr. Andrii Portnov.
We cordially invite proposals for a one or two day workshop. Applicants can be individuals or teams of researchers at doctoral or postdoctoral level who are affiliated with one of Prisma Ukraina’s member institutions in Berlin, Brandenburg and Poland: Centre Marc Bloch, Berlin; Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteuropakunde; Deutsches Historisches Institut, Warschau; Europa-Universität Viadrina, Frankfurt/Oder; Osteuropa-Institut der Freien Universität Berlin; Humboldt-Universität Berlin; Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin; Universität Potsdam; Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung, Berlin; Zentrum für Osteuropäische und Internationale Studien, Berlin; Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung, Potsdam.
Criteria
The workshop should
- relate thematically to Prisma Ukraïna’s overall rationale (see www.prisma-ukraina.de)
- be interdisciplinary and seek to involve researchers from several different research institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg.
- be exploratory in character. Our aim is to provide scholars with an intensive small-scale setting to probe and develop original ideas and research questions.
The workshop will be conducted at the premises of the Forum Transregionale Studien in Berlin in November or December 2017. It will be supported organizationally as well as with limited funds for catering and travel (if applicable) by Prisma Ukraïna. It will be integrated in our and the Forum’s channels of scientific communication.

In order to apply, please submit an abstract of 1 page max., detailing the theme and question of the workshop as well as how it meets the criteria named above. Please also include name(s) and affiliations of the convener(s) as well as academic CVs and a list of participants, if known.
