The workshop is organised by the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and Europe in the Middle East—The Middle East in Europe (EUME) and will be held 1 & 2 December 2017 at the Forum Transregionale Studien, Wallotstr. 14, 14193 in Berlin.
The workshop is convened by Atef Botros al-Attar (Doha Institute for Graduate Studies), Ayman El-Desouky (Doha Institute for Graduate Studies) und Georges Khalil (EUME; Forum Transregionale Studien) and explores the increasing reception of Walter Benjamin’s work in the Arab World, particularly his notions of ‘history’, ‘violence’, ‘law’, ‘language’, ‘time’, and ‘revolution’.
