The Forum is sponsored by the Senate Department for Higher Education and Research, Health and Long-Term Care. Regarding communication the Forum cooperates with the Max Weber Stiftung – Deutsche Geisteswissenschaftliche Institute im Ausland. For workshops and events, the Forum collaborates with universities and research institutions in Germany and abroad.

The research programs of the Forum have been funded by various institutions and foundations. EUME is sponsored by a foundation, and re:constitution by the Stiftung Mercator. Prisma Ukraïna is funded by the State of Berlin in the shape of an interdisciplinary research network. 4A_Lab is supported by the Kunsthistorisches Institut Florenz – Max Planck Institute and the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Academy in Exile is a sponsored project of the VolkswagenStiftung, the Merian Centre for Advanced Studies in the Maghreb (MECAM) is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), just as the initiative Europäische Zeiten / European Times – A Transregional Approach to the Societies of Central and Eastern Europe (EUTIM).
