Essays
Essays are an open access format of the Forum Transregionale Studien that address contemporary issues from a personal standpoint, a particular position, and discipline in a way that is accessible to readers elsewhere. Essays can be experimental, but they should be informed by the research and experience of the author. They should argue for a case, an issue, or a point of view in an accessible manner that contextualises and opens up a topic beyond the boundaries of specific disciplines and areas of expertise.
The Essays of the Forum are peer-reviewed and may receive language editing. They appear in different series curated by scholars associated with one of the Forum’s research programs or with the institutions or projects of its members and partners. Essays of 20 to 80 pages appear as a digital brochure available at the open access platform perspectivia.net and as a printed issue. Shorter Essays are published on the TRAFO Blog. Essays that are exemplary and of particular importance for the concerns of the Forum appear in German in a separate Forum series in the series “Fröhliche Wissenschaft” published by Matthes & Seitz Berlin. Please find a collection of our printed and hybrid Essay publiactions below.
