Whitney Cox “Modes of Philology in Medieval South India”

Whitney Cox’s Modes of Philology in Medieval South India is the first publication of the series “Philological Encounters Monographs”, a supplement to the peer-reviewed journal Philological Encounters. The series is dedicated to the historical and philosophical critique of philology and encourages critical and comparative perspectives that integrate textual scholarship and the study of language from across the world. “Philological Encounters Monographs” (Brill) emerged from the Zukunftsphilologie research program and is edited by Islam Dayeh (Freie Universität Berlin).

Whitney Cox, University of Chicago, is Associate Professor in the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations at that university and a member of the Collegium of Zukunftsphilologie. He is the author of Politics, Kingship and Poetry in Medieval South India: Moonset on Sunrise Mountain (Cambridge, 2016).

Thanks to the generous support of the Committee on Southern Asian Studies and the Humanities Visiting Committee (both of the University of Chicago), the monograph is available as an open access publication. For further details, please visit the Brill website.
