The sinologist Prof. Dr. Barbara Mittler has taken her office as a member of the Board of Directors of the Forum Transregionale Studien in February 2015. She was elected in December 2014 by the Members’ Assembly.
Since 2004 Barbara Mittler has been professor of sinology at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and co-director of the local Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context” and of the 2013 founded “Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies”. Her research focuses on Chinese and Taiwanese musical, literary and cultural history and digital humanities. Moreover, she works on questions of gender and imagery in historiography.
