Chronological-Factual Approach to the Verses Revealed in the Medinan Period (Between Rabīʿ al-ākhir AH 4 and Rabīʿ al-awwal AH 11)

Esra Gözeler holds an MA (2005) and a PhD (2009) in Islamic Studies from the Faculty of Divinity at Ankara University. She received both her degrees in Tafsīr (Qur''ānic Exegesis). Since 2003 she has been working as Research Assistant at Ankara University. She was awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of Education of Turkey to study Arabic at the University of Jordan, Amman (2005—2006), and another grant from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome to work on Christian Theology and on her doctoral research (2006—2007). She attended a course on “Jewish Identity and Diversity through the Ages” coordinated by the Cardinal Bea Centre for Judaic Studies, held at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Jerusalem (September 2007), and co-lectured an interdisciplinary course on Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Exegetical Traditions at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Spring 2010).
Since 2010 Gözeler has been working as Vice-Coordinator for the Divinity Program (International Students) at the Ankara University Faculty of Divinity. At the same time, she has worked as an Academic Redactor for the Christian-Islamic Dictionary in collaboration with Ankara University Faculty of Divinity and the Eugen Biser Foundation.

As a EUME Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung in Berlin, she will work on a project entitled “Chronological-Factual Approach to the Verses Revealed in the Medinan Period (Between Rabī‘ al-ākhir AH 4 and Rabī‘ al-awwal AH 11).”
