The Forum was founded in October 2009 as a registered association. Its members are Berlin-based universities, research institutions and associations. The Forum is funded by the Senate of the Land of Berlin.

In spring 2010, the Forum has started its activities through the support of three exemplary projects in the fields of philology (Zukunftsphilologie: Revisiting the Canons of Textual Scholarship), law (Rechtskulturen: Confrontations beyond Comparison) and urban sociology (Global Prayers: Redemption and Liberation in the City).
In addition, from October 2011 onwards, the research program Europe in the Middle East – the Middle East in Europe (EUME), hitherto jointly organized by the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the Fritz Thyssen Foundation and the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, will be integrated into the Forum.

Following a successful start-up phase, the Forum takes the ceremony on 10th October as an occasion to welcome more than 30 international post-doc fellows associated with the Forum’s programs upon their arrival in Berlin.

Please find further information about the evening's program here .

If you would like to attend the event followed by a reception, kindly register until 28th September 2011 under office(at)trafo-berlin.de.
