EUME Fellows Initiate Open Letter to Berlin Mayor

This year's Fellows of the research program Europe in the Middle East—The Middle East in Europe (EUME) have initiated an open letter to the Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, in support of the Forum Transregionale Studien, the organization which funds and runs the EUME program. In the letter, they urge the Berlin Senate to reconsider the currently planned cut down of the Forum budget. In addition to the initiators, the open letter has been signed by former Fellows of the Program and other intellectuals and academics from the Middle East.

Friederike Pannewick, Professor of Arabic Studies in Marburg and member of the Forum’s Board of Directors, refers to this initiative in an interview on Deutschlandradio Kultur. She particularly underlines the worldwide significance of the FTS.
