The Annual Conference of the Forum Transregionale Studien and the Max Weber Foundation – German Humanities Institutes Abroad was held on 24 and 25 November at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (WZB, Berlin Social Science Center).
The Forum Transregionale Studien welcomes its Fellows of 2014/2015
This academic year, the Forum Transregionale Studien is assisting 28 researchers i.a. from India, China, Syria, Israel, Jordan, Turkey, Hungary, the USA and Argentina.
Memory and Revolution
“Memory and Revolution” was the title of a series of Arabic film screenings, which was organized in cooperation with Mayadin Al-Tahrir e.V. and “Europe in the Middle East—The Middle East in Europe” (EUME). The films were screened on October 8, 15 and 22, 7pm, at the Werkstatt der Kulturen, and followed by a discussion.
WeberWorldCafé “Narrating the First World War”
The second WeberWorldCafé “Narrating the First World War”, organized by the Max Weber Foundation together with the Forum Transregionale Studien, was held on 16 September 2014, 2—6 pm at Deutsches Historisches Museum Berlin.

Status of the Forum
The continuation of the Forum Transregionale Studien is now secured due to the budgetary decision of the Berlin parliament on 12 December 2013. The former plans of the Berlin Senate for Economy, Technology and Research to suspend the funding of the Forum were withdrawn.

New Publication by Global Prayers
Urban studies as well as artistic productions have long viewed religion and urbanity as mutually exclusive. Global Prayers, in contrast, puts the case for just such reciprocal influences. The publication is based on the work of an international network of researchers as well as artists, focusing on diverse urban assemblages and religious communities. The contributions record their movements and critically engage with them.

2nd Annual Lecture
The second Annual Lecture of the Forum Transregionale Studien will be delivered by Neil MacGregor, the director of the British Museum, on the subject “Global Collections for Global Cities”.
On 10th October 2011 at 19.00, the Forum Transregionale Studien would like to present itself to the public with an opening ceremony in the Rotunda of the Alte Museum. The historian Dipesh Chakrabarty will give the inaugural lecture on “Understanding the Other, or Why Objects and Texts Remain in Tension in Historical Studies”.
